Take a deep dive into what makes Athens such a fascinating city by traversing a modern metropolis sprinkled with ancient sites and neoclassical buildings in every corner! In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel or nearby and begin our exploration of the center of Athens. Our first stop will be the Panathenaic Stadium, home to the first modern Olympic Games and the only stadium in the world constructed entirely our of marble! We will take a short stop for pictures and your expert guide will introduce you to the history of Kallimarmaro (the stadium's Greek name, which translates to beautiful marble). We will hop back on the bus and drive through the city, passing by some of the most important sites in all of Athens.

Even though we will not take any more stops until we reach Acropolis, we will pass by the former Royale Palace which is now used as the Prime Minister's residence. Outside you will see the famous Evzones guards, dressed in traditional attire from the days of the Greek War of Independence in the early 19^th century. We will continue passing by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, of which a few colossal Doric columns still remain today. Close by we'll see Hadrian's Gate, a Roman triumphal arch located on the Northwest side of the Temple. Only a minute later we will find ourselves in Syntagma Square, the heart of Athens, with the neoclassical building of the Greek Parliament standing on its top and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier just below it.Further down the road we will see in quick succession the Academy of Athens, The University of Athens and the National Library, all exquisite pieces of neoclassical architecture.

It goes without saying that the centerpiece of a tour to Athens can be none other than a visit to the Acropolis, a world-famous symbol of democracy! It is there that we will explore architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Pericles, from the Propylaea, to the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and of course the Parthenon, a place where 'there is harmony between mater and spirit', a monument that 'restores order in the mind', as ancient Greeks used to say. Our last stop will be the modern Acropolis Museum, with nearly 4,000 exhibits of Hellenism housed inside, including the original Karyatides!

This tour is a quintessential experience for anyone you wishes to take a guided walk through the heart of Athens. You will feel just like a local, strolling down Athenian alleys while being introduced to a plethora of monuments that have left an indelible mark on the city. We will meet near Syntagma, the main square of Athens, on top of which the House of the Greek Parliament stands. In front of it we will stop to see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers and the Evzones in their traditional uniform guarding it. We will continue our pleasant walk through the National Gardens and pass by Zappeion Hall, a palatial building constructed during the late 19^th century. Continuing South, we will walk by the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the nearby Hadrian's Gate, a triumphant arch build during the 2^nd century AD to commemorate the Roman Emperor.

We now find ourselves in the precipice of the area known as Plaka, arguably the most picturesque neighborhood of Athens. We will walk by quaint craft shops and neoclassical houses with the imposing look of Acropolis above us. Nearby we will see the Athenian Agora, the Observatories and the hills of Philipappos and Pnyx. In the street of Dionysiou Areopagitou we will pass by the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, a Roman amphitheater which houses concerts and operas to this day. At the end of the tour, and since you are so close, do not miss the opportunity to visit on your own the Acropolis Museum.

After we pick you up in the morning from various designated locations around Chania, we will follow the green north coast just before Kastelli and finally reach the rock chapel of Agia Sophia through the village of Topolia. This small church is hidden in a dripstone cave, accessible by a small uphill climb. It dates back to the battles of the Cretans against the Venetians and Turks and was named after a religious icon found wedged
in a rock inside the cave. Magnificent stalactites, stalagmites and pillars cover the largest part of its surface. Neolithic shells and a previously unknown species of insect that
was named Spermophora Topolia were discovered inside the cave. After a short visit to this incredibly interesting site, we will proceed to the main attraction of the tour!

Elafonisi is located on the southwestern most point of Crete and is an oblong, which often seems to be divided into two parts by water, giving the impression of it being a separate island. The protected area of Elafonisi features magnificent natural formations with arguably the most beautiful being the pinkish sand which exists in many places, taking its color from thousands of broken sea shells and corals. The endangered turtles Caretta-Caretta and several rare animals nest on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove any flora or fauna from the area. The exotic beach with its white and pink sand and turquoise waters is reminiscent of the Caribbean. Near the breaking point of the peninsula, the water does not exceed 1m (3 feet), creating a small lagoon, which can easily be crossed.

The eastern side of the beach, in front of the lagoon, is organized, having umbrellas, showers, lifeguards, snack bars and changing rooms. In Elafonisi, you will have plenty of time to explore the area, swim in the crystal clear waters and even grab a bite to eat! Depending on conditions we may have time to visit a local village as well, before hopping back on the bus that we will take us back to Chania!

After we pick you from selected locations around Athens, we will take the coastal road out of city, enjoying magnificent views of the Saronic Gulf along the way. Our destination is Sounion, the most Southern point of the Attican peninsula. There we will find the Temple of Poseidon, dedicated to the God of the Seas. The Temple was not only a place of worship but an important strategic location that was used as an observatory to warn Athenians of incoming invaders into the Saronic bay. Alongside the Acropolis and the Temple of Aphaia in Aegina, it formed a triangle of observation that kept ancient Athenians safe and solidified the naval prowess of both Athens and Aegina. The Temple also features prominently in various stories of Greek mythology, with perhaps the most well-known being the tragic death of Aegeus, father of Theseus, who threw himself into the sea once he saw his son's ship approach with a black sail on its mast, wrongfully indicating that Theseus had been killed.

We will take a tour of the grounds around the Temple, learn about its rich history, marvel at the stunning views offered by the vantage point and even see the spot in which Lord Byron carved his name in the early 19^th century, before returning to Athens via the same route.

You will be picked up from select spots near Athens and take the picturesque route along the coast with a view to the Saronic Gulf, heading South to cross the iconic Corinth Canal. Even though the idea of its construction has been in existence since the days of Ancient Greece, it was only created during the late 19^th century. We will take a short stop for pictures before proceeding to the site of Ancient Corinth, where the remains of the Temple of Apollo, the Agora and the Ancient Theater are just some of the sites worth visiting. The city itself is not without spiritual magnitude as Apostle Paul preached there and subsequently authored his famous Epistles to Corinthians.
